My friend Libby over at Elf: A Family Blog made a bloghop for New Years Resolutions, and since I haven't written mine yet, I figured that it was about time to sit down ad get back to blogging about our family.
1. Read more. I know that I had that as a goal from last year, but I want to carry it over to this year. C got me a Kobo Touch for Christmas, and I've already polished off one book (no including the other two that I finished between Dec19th and Dec25th...woot!) and am on a second. I have 30 someodd books queued up on it right now, and I want to be able to read them all this year. If I don't, I won't be heart broken...but it'd be nice to know I'm enriching my mind that much.
2. Find a church. This is a biggie. Over the past 6 years (since my Dad passed away) I've been having massive issues with mortality. Questions of "is this it?" plague me regularly, to the point of getting all worked up and having panic attacks. Like...can't breathe, can't stop crying, feel like passing out...panic attacks. I had one about a week and a half ago (part of the reason why I haven't blogged anything about our vacation) and it was a doozie. I know in my heart what the answer is, and how to get to better understanding of that answer...for me, it's finding a church that I feel comfortable in in the city that we live in.
3. Enroll in the Alpha program. This is a biggie as well, and goes hand in hand with #2. Given that my questions are largely centered around what is, what will be and who is...enrolling into the 7 week Alpha program is going to be a huge step in figuring this all out. I have found two churches back home that I think fit the bill for what I'm looking for, and thankfully they both offer the Alpha course.
4. Do more outside social activities with Owen. This is super important. We've noticed over the past few weeks that Owen's a bit timid with other kids, especially when they're in large groups. He so badly wants to play and engage, but he sort of stands there and just stares at them..then gets excited, and tries to engage when it's too late. So far, we have him enrolled in a Tuesday afternoon Storytime program at the library and a Tuesday evening program at The Little Gym. Once those sessions are done, we'll have to revisit what it seems like he wants to do since he's starting to develop his own little personality and favourite things to do.
So...there you have it! That's about it, but they're pretty big goals for this year! Do you have any?

Workin' It 12/14
Well friends...it's not good news.
I feel so exhausted and completely drained that going to the gym is the last thing on my mind. If I'm not running around like a crazy person doing groceries or mailing orders for Sweet Stella's, we're up until all hours of the night packing massive boxes, wrapping china, emptying cupboards because we sold our house.

It's been...stressful. Eating is a challenge in that I just tend to not eat. I've been better this week in drinking a tonne more water, getting more protein with some cheeses and meats, getting a healthy variety of veggies.
I even bought about 5 grapefruits on Tuesday...but they're in the fridge.
C and Owen leave tomorrow for Florida, then I have 4 solid days to myself. I have grand plans for going out with friends for drinks, to the movies with GodMomma, and to Mr. A's 1st bithday party on Sunday.
It's a crazy time of year, as I'm sure you all are aware, and I cannot wait to get to Florida. Sunshine everyday, gym facilities right there, walking trails, playgrounds, the beach. And...C are the ready to be able to go to the gym during the DAY.
I think that makes a huge difference for me. I can go to the gym during naptime for an hour, and not feel completely exhausted by the end of the day. I actually pulled out my workout clothes, socks, sports bras, gloves (oh yes...I have gloves for weight days!) and will be synching up my iPod before I go. I got all excited!!
Stay motivated, mamas!!! YOU CAN DO IT! And Get through the holidays WITH working out...and still enjoying it!
Remember...you're the one who has to live in your skin. So as long as YOU are truly happy with it, that's all that matters!!

Days 10 & 11!
We had to do a combo day today as yesterday was a wee bit crazy with friends coming over, Mama having a coffee date with some local mompreneurs, and then having to get down to business!!
Day 10...Make hot chocolate!

Waiting...and munching on banana pancakes

Daddy making hot chocolate (aka: slightly warm chocolate milk)

This is actually a smile. He sees the camera light and squints his eyes while "smiling"
It didn't go over super well. He drank a bit, but he's just not a chocolate fan. I don't know how he's my kid!
Day 11...go see Santa!
This was a big deal for us today, as we didn't take him to see Santa last year (thought 6months was a wee bit too young for us).
We got him all dressed up and off we went to what we knew would be a crazy insane lineup at the mall.

Meeting the big guy for the first time was kind of a big deal. We put him down, and he stood there...mouth open and hands shaking. I think he knew this was a big life moment...
Then he ran up to him all smiles!
Where that smile went...I have no idea!

But I think it's a pretty awesome first picture with Santa!

Day 9: Family Pajama Day!
Today was supposed to be another day...which had to be postponed since we went house hunting tonight and it messed up our plans a little bit.
anyhow!
Day 9....

So fun...even when we had to be out and about at the post office and grocery store! I cheated and put jeans on for those trips, but Owen looks so darn cute in his dinosaur pj's all day!

Honestly! How freaking cute is he!?

Seriously, the kid cannot sit still!

Day 8: New Boots!
I'm actually surprised that I didn't have to move this to one of the earlier days in our advent calendar, but thankfully...not too much snow yet!
Day 8...

Owen is really starting to love the advent calendar. I'll ask him what today's will be, open the day, and say "Do you want your paper?" He'll run over and grab it, to carefully "read" what we're going to do that day

Off we went to Walmart to find something stylish, by practical, and within our budget. One thing about kiddos, they aren't cheap!

Nice! Score for $20

If it gets much colder than that, we're hibernating.

Day 7: Build a Fort
I did this on a rainy day way back in the spring when Owen was still crawling and thought that it might make for a fun activity during the Christmas holiday
Day 7...

And we did just that! All you need is your kitchen chairs, a bed sheet and your imagination!

Time to play trucks in the fort!

I'm excited for tomorrows adventure as it will be out and about, and will mean I can pick up a new memory card for our camera! Yay, no more blackberry pictures!!
