Dear Bug...

Hey little man...it's your mom.

I've noticed that you've gotten really strong lately, and while I love that you like to snuggle up in a little ball, all wedged in my rib cage...you're too strong for mommy sometimes. You have been catching me off guard lately, so I hope that my reactions don't startle you! When mommy yells "Oh my!!" it doesn't mean that you're hurting me, just that you surprised me.

I do hope, though, that your love for snuggling with your momma continues far after you're born. I can't wait for the times that you sneak into our bedroom because you had a bad dream and need to snuggle with your mom and dad. We'll be certain to chase those monsters away and make you feel extra safe.

Only a few more weeks to go, and you're welcome to come whenever you're ready to meet us even if that means that you're a little early and we don't necessarily have all of the "stufff" in your room that you're going to need. You have a nice, cozy bed to sleep in...some cuddlies to snuggle with that I hope you love to pieces, some great music to help you sleep. Don't worry, we have lots of diapers and clothes for you, and I'm sure everything else will fall into place.

Daddy and I were talking the other night about when we think your first NHL game should be, and I have a feeling that you'll be getting to go to Montreal in the next year. It'll be pretty great too because that's where your Nana and Grandpa grew up, and where your GreatGrandma lives. It's really pretty there, and has a special meaning for your Daddy and I. You'll be going to lots and lots of games, because Daddy wants to foster your love of the Canadiens early on so that there's no room for umping ship later on. You'll break his little heart if you become a Leafs fan, so we need to thwart that threat as soon as possible.

Anyway Bug, we both love you very much and can't wait to meet you...again, whenever you're ready to come and meet us.

See you soon, little boy!

Love,

Mommy

Our Photo Shoot with Rosita

The pictures are in, and here's a few of my favourites!

Rosita, you went way above and beyond out expectations and we're really looking forward to seeing you on April 30th - hopefully the snow and hail stay away!!

Pre-mat Leave Projects

Well, well, well...it looks like I've tackled about half of my pre-maternity leave projects and with still another 7ish weeks to go, I think I may have to look for some more!

Project #1 - Landscaping

That'll be finished today! Nana V and I are going out to the garden centre this afternoon to finalize the trees for the backyard. Then, it's all up to C to dig the holes and get them planted. Looks like we're looking at 6 black cedars along the back fence, a Celebration maple along the north fence, and something else along the south fence. I haven't quite decided if I want another Celebration maple, or perhaps a Hemlock.

Project #2 - Studio Setup

That's been done for a couple of weeks now, and I am absolutely thrilled to have done up a new painting in there already. It also provided a nice backdrop for some of our maternity pictures this weekend!

Project #3 - master Bedroom

It's finally done! I'm so happy with it as well! The pressure was certainly on this Saturday morning as we knew that Rosita was wanting to take pictures of us in bed, reading to Bug etc. so we needed to spruce things up!

Before...just stone-brown walls and not a whole lot going on

After...a new, cozy...and rather adult bedroom

LOVE Alphabet Photography, a wedding gift from a dear friend, with pictures of us, my Dad and his cuff links - and other goodies picked up from Homesense

Our 13' (yes...feet....) spruce shelf with yummy hazelnut, caramel, vanilla and coffee scented candles (I promise you that it's straight...I'm just standing sort of angled to try and get the whole shelf in the picture...we used a level and everything!)

Corner hutch outside the en suite...picture of Dad and I, the scrapbook I made C and gave to him before our wedding and Bug way up at the top!

The new painting! It was supposed to go horizontally over top of the 13' shelf, but we liked it here better!

We didn't paint because the colour is very similar to what we had at our condo, and the colour that I would have picked anyhow. There are a few nicks here and there on the LOVE wall, and perhaps that will make a nice accent wall at some point in the future. Right now though, we're happy with it just the way it is.

Nearly 33 Weeks

Wow, what a busy day yesterday! By noon, I had done yoga, gotten changed, taken C to work, gone grocery shopping, and ran all of our other errands like to RONA and Walmart. Once I had lunch, I certainly was feel exhausted but there is so much to do around the house before Rosita comes on Saturday for our pictures!

Well, there wasn't any rest for me until about 4:30 when I fell asleep on the couch until C came home from work. I even got the painting for over our bed done, and absolutely love it. C really loves it too, which makes it all the better. Once everything is finished up in our bedroom, I'll post pictures!

We're just about 33 weeks now, and I'm definitely feeling rather tiny after our appointment on Tuesday. I started looking back through my belly pictures in my HABS shirt to see the progression and, to me, it doesn't really look like I've grown a whole lot since 25weeks. C did laugh last night, though, when I said "huh! Who knew that at 33 weeks, this shirt would still fit!"...."ya...sure it still fits" he said with a laugh. Oh C...you're going the right way for a smack!

The only validation that I have for my growing belly is the look down. y feet have vanished, and I have to lean over pretty far to get a glimpse at them to make sure they aren't swollen and to check on the toe-nail polish situation.

In terms of Bugs development this week, he will weigh a whopping 4lbs by the end of the week - no wonder those kicks and squirms are starting to hurt a little! His skeleton is hardening, however the plates in his head wont be fused until well after birth, almost until hes a young adult (gulp!) - they still need to shift and whatnot to squash his beautiful head through the birth canal and need to be able to move for his growing, brilliant brain.

He certainly was squirmy and wormy while I was painting...and I will continue to pretend that means that he knew I was being creative and passionate, and that he will be just like his momma in that regard. He just wouldn't stop moving afterward! The video is a little shaky, primarily because he was kicking where my arms were resting, but you can see the squirming and rolling along the right side.

Bright and Early

Yes folks...it's currently 5:30am and I cannot sleep. I figured, with my to-do list for the day being about a mile long and with activities such as vacuuming three bedrooms, cleaning a bathroom, tidying our living room, getting groceries and creating a new painting for our bedroom...I had better blog now while I'm awake than sacrifice an afternoon nap to update you all!

We had our first biweekly prenatal appointment yesterday, and all-in-all...it went pretty well!

Bug's Heart Rate - 126bpm
I'm not too sure what it means when it drops a little every time, but thankfully I've been keeping notes as to what it is each time that we go in and the time of day. He was resting yesterday, so likely that's why it's a little low. I did a little research for some peace of mind, and as long as it doesn't dip below 110bpm or raise higher than 160bpm, we're in the clear.

Momma's Blood Pressure - 90/68
Still pretty low, and yes I've been feeling light headed from time to time. They're not overly concerned, since typically my blood pressure is fairly low. Still need to increase the water and salt intake, get up slowly and take it easy (I don't think I know what those last three words means though...)

Momma's Weight - +0.5lbs (total weight gain/loss - minus 14.5lbs)
This actually made me giggle yesterday, and Dr. Leslie laughed alongside. I told her that I am struggling with a lacking appetite right now, but that I'm trying to do everything I can to eat healthy...lots of whole grains, protein, trying to up my dairy and fruit intake as well. Again, she's not overly concerned but I do need to start snacking more and trying to get in a few more calories every day.

Fetal Position - all curled up!
He was all curled up in my right rib cage again today, with his head down at my right hip, back along my side, bum in my ribs and feet toward my belly button. She said that it was hard to tell, and poked around for quite some time to make sure that she got it right. She showed me what to feel for and what movements to keep an eye on to help me figure out where he is. Currently...at almost 6am...his head is to the right and just above my belly button (he has the hiccups, so that was pretty easy to figure out!), bum is up in my left rib cage and feet at down toward my left hip...he's face down....kinda!

He's been wiggling and kicking up a storm since about 4:45am, but seems to be resting now...I think he's only squirming because my tummy is grumbling...it must be loud in there!

Baby Shower #1

The shoes were chosen, accessories on and I was ready for a little party this past Saturday! Nana V's good friend Sheila hosted a baby shower for us, and it was a great time.

Here are some pictures, though one of the ladies was taking tonnes of them and I will share those as soon as I get them.

Before the shower...I went with the wedge heels, and bracelet and earrings from option#2. I couldn't bring myself to change my necklace (it's my Dad's and I've worn it for 5 years straight)

The fantastic cake from Whimsical Bakery! LOVE the sugar booties!

All of Bug's gifts! Awesome playmat from Steve&Sandra, Sportsbag from Nana V, books from Grandma Dale...and super super cute clothes!

New Froggy sleeper, bib, hat, onesie, burp cloth and wash cloth from Marlene

Diaper cake made with organic diapers (woohoo!) from Lulu...hidden inside was my nursing wrap and baby bath stuff!

Once we have pictures of the shower in action, I will post those as well! Thank-you to the ladies who came and lavished us with love!!
